Innovation centered experience for Highschool Students

We expose high school students to the language, mindset and culture of innovation and entrepreneurship to give them a new view on the world and empowering them as changemakers.

Why is Inno.Cent.X so special?

It is the first time that high-school students in Germany are taught entrepreneurship by an elite US university – and can finish their formal education years not omnly with the right entreprenurial mindset, culture of innovation and creative tools, so necesary in whatever one does in the 21st Century – but also with a valuable certificate from NYU

What is the mission of Inno.Cent.X?

  • To expose teenagers to key concepts and practices in entrepreneurship and innovation
  • To give them practical innovation and entrepreneurship development and management tools
  • To introduce them to the startup ecosystem in Mannheim
  • To encourage them to think as changemakers
  • To start adding innovation and entrepreneurship to high schools’ DNA

What’s your personal motivation regarding Inno.Cent.X?

My institute at NYU – the institute for Impact and Intrapreneurship is aimed at „bringing the language of innovation to those who need it most“

Why do you think is it important to give highschool students access to entrepreneurial thinking and mindset?

Entrepreneurship – the process of creating new solutions to existing problems, and innovation – the thinking behind it – became such powerful buzzwords and concepts that they should no longer be treated as subjects, topics or fields – but rather as mindsets and languages. They should be understood as ways of seeing the world, understanding and changing in it, as modus operandi that sees opportunities instead of challenges and as perspectives or lenses which are deeply rooted in culture.

We believe that this is a new form of literacy – and that speaking the language of innovation and entrepreneurship is as important today as knowing how to read, write or use a computer.

In an era which is dominated by the “innovation economy,” knowing what innovation is, what it is not, how to make sense of it, and how to apply it to different aspects of life, becomes critical. When the only constant is the accelerating pace of change, understanding change, and knowing how to use change-management tools and skills in a supportive cultural setting is vital.

Why is NYU Bronfman Center the ideal partner for this project?

Because, as far as we know, we are the only ones who do such a thing..

What should the highschool students get from this one particular week?

What highschool students should actually get from ANY educational activity, engagement or intervention: fun, values, tools, mindset, new avenues in which to express themselves creatively and positively – and meaningful ways of seeing the world, act in it and change it for the better J
